From Austria

Let’s have a look at what the seminarians and the priests in Austria are doing in preparation for the Congress. In December, those who will be coming to the Congress will be meeting to get to know each other better. They wrote: “We are looking beyond the Congress; we look forward for the established relationships to be strengthened even after the event”.
They also wrote a letter to the Rectors of all the seminaries in Austria asking their financial help for those seminarians who needed it. Many of the Rectors gave their contribution.
They added: “… in order to become one body and one soul, we will be celebrating New Year’s Eve in Rome. This will surely help us build our friendship”. And that is not all! After the Congress they plan to go to Loppiano, near Florence, where the Focolare Movement has an international citadel. There they want to have a fitting conclusion of the experience they will have started at the Congress.

From Europe… and elsewhere

The bookings for the Congress ‘There is a way…’ are mostly being done by European seminarians and others who are presently in the ‘old continent’ for studies. Yet, there are also a few bookings from the Americas, Africa and Asia!
We estimate the number of seminarians coming from other continents to be about a hundred. They will be coming from Brazil, Colombia, Venezuela, and the United States of America. From Asia we have a group of twenty-four, fifteen of which are coming from South Korea. Africa will be represented by seminarians from six different countries.
The coming together of so many cultures, so different yet united by the same ideal, is certainly an enrichment for all those taking part. Furthermore, it will make the universality of the Church visible.

From Romania

The Congress is fast approaching, and many seminarians here are planning their trip. At the moment we are 22, but we are fairly optimistic that we will be 30. Some of the seminarians did manual work in a parish to raise funds for the trip. One day, at Mass, they were able to share their experiences of living the Word with the parish community.

From Switzerland

Even our friends in Switzerland are gearing up for the Congress to be held in January. A number of seminarians and priests are going around to different seminaries to speak about the event. They are also encouraging young men still discerning their vocation to take part. They have written: “We pray every day so that we will be at least 20 from Switzerland”.

From Uganda

A Seminarian who will be taking part in the Congress sent us a personal experience of living the Word:
“Some time ago I was trying to live the Gospel Word: ‘Give, and you shall be given’. One day, on my way to the village, I took a collective taxi. One woman in the taxi discovered that she did not have enough money to pay the driver. She asked the driver to let her go without paying. Seeing this situation, I gave the woman the little money I still had in my pocket to pay for her trip and keep the rest for her needs. As soon as I got out of the taxi I met one of my uncles. Without saying anything to him, he gave me ten times the sum of money that I had given to that poor woman!”.
